Uniform Sizing

As part of your completed Spring registration fees, you paid for a new uniform.  However, we still need to know what size uniform to order you.  There are two things that we still need you to do in order to complete the uniform order:

1) Determine your uniform size - Through a partnership with SlingIt Lacrosse, we'll be utilizing their store for uniform fittings over the next several weeks.  Regardless of your registration status (Registered or Waitlisted) you should get sized.

2) Complete your order - Once you know your size, we need you to place the order through our Uniform Ordering System.   There is no additional charge for placing this order as you paid for the uniform as part of your registration.

Equipment Exchange

Did you know that Scorpions has an equipment exchange?  LaxTrade is available in the left menu of our website and allows you to post your used gear for sale and see what else is available for purchase.  For Scorpions by Scorpions, we want the equipment exchange to be the de facto used lacrosse equipment resource for our club.  If you have any gear lying around collecting dust, there's probably a new player out there who would love to buy it off of you rather than paying full retail price.  Go ahead and post it today!

What's with the Waitlist?

Several of you are probably wondering what the deal is with the waitlist.  We want to take a chance to explain everything for you.

What is the waitlist?

Simply put, the waitlist is a tool that we use when a certain division is over capacity.  It allows you to be placed in a virtual queue and be alerted to all club communication until a point where we can find a spot for your son or daughter.

Why do we have it?

A complex question but we'll try to break it down.  Simply put, we don't have cuts in our program.  Everybody who registers and pays the registration fee is placed on a team.  For that reason, we need to ensure that we have enough teams to accommodate all registered players.  So, we evaluate the number of committed head coaching resources we have at each division, multiply it by the average number of players on each team, and come up with our initial waitlist thresholds.  As we get new head coaching commitments, we open the waitlist to more children.  From our perspective, there's no value in opening up the floodgates off the bat.  It sets expectations that we may not be able to meet.

That said, we're constantly looking for coaching resources.  We recruit assistant coaches to step up to a head coach role, recruit multiple assistant coaches to take on co-head coach roles, tap into former coaches whose children have moved on in hopes that they'll come back and give even more to the program, communicate with local colleges to determine if there are current or former students who have an interest, email our former players who may be back from college, and post to job boards.  It's a never ending process and we're committed to doing everything we can to find and retain coaching in our club so that we can offer an opportunity for every boy and girl who wants to play.

How do I get off of it?

Simply put, players must cancel their registration or we must get a commitment from another head coach.  At that time, we'll take players in the order in which they registered.   We'll be working on filling coaching vacancies all the way up to evaluations.  If you're on the waitlist, keep the faith!  We're confident that we'll be able to get your child into the program.

We Need Coaches!

We strive to maintain a high level of quality across the board in our club.  That said, coaching resources don't necessarily need prior lacrosse experience.  We provide fully paid training through US Lacrosse and access to an amazing amount of resources.  Additionally, we have a coaching mentor program where former coaches consult with newer coaches on everything from practice plans to game tactics.

If you're interested in coaching and want more information, please let us know!  We'll be happy to talk about the commitment level, prerequisites, and answer any questions you have.
