Remembering Todd French

It is with the great sadness that we continue to mourn the news of the passing of our good friend, esteemed coach and colleague, Todd French.   Todd was a fighter to the end, having bravely battled cancer and the doctors who originally told him he had less than a year to live. Now years later, his spirit and positive energy will rage on.

Todd impacted nearly a generation of youth in our community, coaching with the Scorpion club for 13 years in addition to T-Birds Football, and San Ramon Valley High School football and lacrosse. A two-time US Lacrosse Man of the Year recipient, US Lacrosse Assistant Coach of the Year, and Scorpion Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Todd's impact spread far and wide. And while he will be deeply missed by his family, friends and the extended San Ramon Valley youth sports community, he leaves behind both the fond memories we have of him and the positive influence he had on so many of our sons and daughters.

Prior to his passing, Todd requested that we not grieve his death, but rather celebrate his life and continue to live our own lives to the fullest.  So let us remember Todd with a fist pump and smile, and send loving and supportive thoughts to his wife Michelle and sons Austin and Cole.

We thought many of you would enjoy celebrating and remembering Todd’s life by learning more about him. Written by Laura Navarro, the mother of one of his players, this story provides a glimpse into Todd's life and the impact he had on so many in our community.

And remember that "those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and forever dear".

Rest in Peace, Todd.  We love you.
